Curve Modeling

In Blender, we learned how to create curve models. Mine is based off of a Tribal Tattoo I found on Google Images :3

The first image is without any shaders on the model. The second image has has two different shaders on it: An emission and glossy shader.

Hard Surface Modeling Project

For the Hard Surface Modeling Project, we had to create a "hard-surfaced" object (mine being a guitar) that would have us using mean creases on the edges to give our objects a nice, sharp edge.

I feel good about the majority of shots that I took. I feel like the long shots do a good job of showing the guitar within the room. The bird's-eye view shot is one I'm not particularly fond of, considering that it's rather boring compositionally. The worm's-eye view shot doesn't have the same issues. There are other things in frame, such as the couch, walls, and painting.

Ice Cream Food Project

Since we already worked on the Donut project in Blender, we began to work on different types of food that we could choose for ourselves. I picked ice-cream for my Blender Cycles project.

There were multiple things that went wrong with my project, including some of the textures of the objects. One of the ice cream cones and actual scoops of ice cream just doesn't look right. My USB hadn't been saving the project properly so I was getting confused as to which one was which (some were "saved" to USB while others were saved to Desktop).

If my disk key hadn't acted up, I'm sure that I could have made this project look a lot better. But because of lack of time from when I finally decided to go with this particular environment, it was too confusing.

Hard Surface Modeling -- 10 Reference Pictures

Trains have a lot of curves to them, but especially with the grills down in the front and the wheels throughout the body of the vehicle, there is a lot of hard surface going on, making sharp edges

Mechs look awesome and slick with hard surface modeling, most of it being straight edges

Vehicles are a great reference for hard surface modeling

Hard Surface modeling deals with metals and other things like that, and usually involves mean creases, which create sharp edges to the objects. In every picture above, there is at least one example of hard surface modeling. The armor, vehicles, and guitar all have sharp edges at one spot or another, and they all have that slick design.

Hard Surface Modeling -- Sphere

We're working more with hard surface modeling, now learning how to use "mean creases" in order to make the edges of our shapes sharper. Here's my example:

Car Model

In class, we worked on hard surface modeling. Our task was to create a simple car from a YouTube video and then take a photo of it. Here's the car that I made:

Donut Stills

This project of the donut shots was created through the Cycles rendering engine in Blender. The project presented difficult challenges, such as modeling the donuts with icing. The fluid simulation was slightly difficult to work with, because it wouldn't always produce the desired result.

Another issue for me, personally, was the bowl of icing. The icing would not delete the way I wanted it to when parts of it were sticking outside of the bowl. So in order to avoid the viewer seeing that, I did not make the bowl out of glass.

The fluid simulation was probably the most difficult thing to work with during this project, requiring patience and even some tolerance. It was random for the most part (where the fluid would go) so I just had to find a spot where I thought it looked good and use that. In the end, however, I feel as though everything worked out.
